My grandfather was a choral scholar at this collage before WW2. He sat in the seat you can’t quite see on the in the far right corner, right beside the organ pipes. I grew up in Cambridge and whenever we had visitors from out of town, we took them here and I’d feel closer to my grandfather (who died when I was about 18). I tried for a long time to take a picture which showed it off to it’s full majesty, and this is as close as I’ve ever got! If you get the chance to visit, you really should.

I was speaking at a conference during the evening and arrived at Peterborough mid-afternoon. My Mum, who is in her 80’s had mentioned to see the cathedral, if I had time. I was not disappointed and the £3 filming fee was well worth it. An amazing cathedral with some fascinating history.

I was out taking some pictures in a cemetery and this cat came out of nowhere and scared the living day lights out of me. Lucky it was the nicest cat ever and even gave me a little tour of the place!

Walking along the river in Hampsted Heath public park found in London, a friend said it is her dream house, to have a view of the park and the river. I decided to capture that moment.

We took a walk in Bradgate park, Leicestershire to try out a new camera. The park is an enclosed deer park where the deer can roam free. The path ran along side some ferns, and as we reached it, a we saw a deer disappear into the greenery, with only it’s antlers showing. We moved in line with the deer, hoping it would look up, but only when my wife started making noises with her mouth did we get it’s attention. It looked up, and straight at us, and with full zoom I managed to capture a few pictures before it ran away. I love the colours in this shot, and how the ferns frame the deer’s head.

This shot was taken at Uffington Castle on a lovely spring evening. I saw my Sister and Dad looking out over Oxfordshire & Wiltshire and thought it would be a good chance to get a shot of them both. I love the silhouette effect I got from it.

Coming home for Christmas, this street is one of my favourites in London and the first time I’ve shot this. I love how the classic red London bus and black cab are both involved.

Milestone reached. 30 photos in 30 days. Well make that 35 days. I kinda missed some - mainly cuz I reached my quota (which was weird). Visiting London after almost 10 years was really amazing. I am so used to the mountains tho, that big cities kinda seem chaotic to me.

I was wondering near the London marathon race course when I found a spot overlooking the main road. After a few dozens minutes waiting a handful athletes started appearing and one of the volunteers moved closer to cheer them. The rest is history :-)

For most of you, V&A is a place you pass through once, admiring all the art and skeletons, stairs and all its stunning rooms. For me, it was my daily escape ‘room’ to my lunch break; I miss it heaps. It even smells like home.

Pigeon in flight at Trafalgar Square in London City. On my last visit, pigeons were a focal point of the tourism at Trafalgar square, now there are signs warning against feeding the birds. With only a few in the area, it was a shock I was able to catch one in flight. Although I needed to correct the focus in post, I think it really catches your eye as a frozen frame in the city.

I’ve always wanted to photograph the Millennium Bridge. Numerous posts on Instagram made it seem like a fascinating destination - especially at sunrise and sunset. The only issue? The sun rose far to early in the morning and too many people were around at golden hour. With that in mind, I decided to try something a bit different using a ND filter.

One Blackfriars on the Thames’ South Bank has to be one of the ugliest proponents of modern architecture that puts making a profit over the legacy of future generations. One has to wonder what London Borough Southwark’s planners were thinking (or rather not) when they approved this carbuncle, -but it makes for interesting photography ;-)
